The North Staffs Asperger/Autism Association was established in 2002. Becoming a member of the NSAAA allows you to access their library facilities, take part in social events as well as participate in their parent support groups.
You will also receive their newsletter which is sent out 3 times a year. The NSAAA currently have members across the whole of Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire Moorlands and as far away as Wolverhampton.
Primarily, the NSAAA provides support, help and advice to individuals with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, their parents and carers and endeavour to raise awareness in the community in a variety of ways and can provide training when required.
The NSAAA hold regular conferences inviting along a number of high profile speakers. These event is both well attended and informative.
Their Association is friendly, caring and supportive, and are fortunate enough to have staff and volunteers who jointly provide a wide range of expertise which is invaluable to individuals, families and professionals alike.
Funding is a major issue at the moment and the Black & White Ball could be critical in their survival. The NSAAA receive no government funding and like so many other small charities, are finding it difficult to raise the funds needed to continue to provide the essential services to so many families who come to rely on them.
